Workshops

With your hands covered in clay. Be creative and enjoy the feeling of the clay through your hands. It doesn't matter if you are a child or an adult, playing with clay is for all ages.

Although my focus is on wheelthrowing, you're welcome to try handbuilding as well. I'll guide you to create something you'll be proud of. Please note that items need to be fired first, so decorating your pieces is usually done in a separate session or as part of a short course. If you only want to book a workshop, I will glaze the items in a glaze of your choice.

Workshop availability

Workshops are available for 2 to 6 participants.

There are no fixed workshop dates, giving you the freedom to choose a date that works best for you. Wether you're booking with a friend, family, colleagues or as a small group, we'll arrange a suitable date together based on availability.

I offer flexible scheduling, including weekdays and weekends whenever possible.

If you're interested, simply get in touch with your preferred date(s), and I'll be happy to discuss the options.

Workshops and short courses can also be tailored to your wishes, so feel free to contact me to discuss what's possible.

The workshops take place in my studio in Capelle aan den IJssel, the Netherlands.

    Adult Wheel-Throwing Workshop

    Have you always wanted to try the potter's wheel? This workshop is the perfect introduction.

    During this 2,5 hour workshop, I'll teach you the basics of wheel throwing in a relaxed and personal setting. No experience is needed. You'll create your own pottery while enjoying the creative process.

    Good to know

    • Participants: 2-3 adults
    • Duration: 2,5 hours
    • Age: 16+
    • Experience: No experience required

    You can make up to 4 pieces per person, which are included in the workshop. Additional pieces can be fired and glazed for € 7,50 per item. I'll trim and glaze your work in the glaze colour of your choice unless you decide to join the optional decorating session.

    If you like to decorate or paint your pottery yourself, you can book an additional 2-hour decorating session. This takes place at least 2 weeks after the workshop, allowing your pieces to dry and be fired first.

    Short Courses (3 or 4 days)

    Would you like to take your pottery skills to the next level?

    These 3- and 4-day courses are perfect if you'd like more time to learn, practise and finish your own pottery. Each session lasts 2,5 hours and takes place in a relaxed, small-group setting. The courses are suitable for both beginners and those with some experience.

    Course Programme

    3-Day Course - €210 per person

    Day 1 - Wheel throwing: learn the basics and start creating your pieces.

    Day 2 - Trimming: refine your work and add details or textures.

    Day 3 - Decorating: personalise your pottery with coloured underglazes.

    4-Day Course - €260 per person

    Day 1 & 2 - Wheel throwing: develop your skills and create more pieces.

    Day 3 - Trimming: refine your pottery and add textures or details.

    Day 4 - Decorating: finish your pottery with colour and decoration.

    Group Pottery Workshop (4-6 People)

    Looking for a fun and creative activity with family, friends or colleagues?

    This workshop combines wheel throwing and handbuilding, making it a varied and enjoyable experience for everyone. You'll spend approximately 1 hour on the potter's wheel and 2 hours handbuilding, with personal guidance throughout.

    Because handbuilding is part of the workshop, it's helpful to think about what you'd like to make before you arrive.

    • Participants: 4-6 people
    • Duration: 3 hours
    • Suitable for: Adults, families, friends and colleagues
    • Experience: No experience required

    You can make up to 3 wheel-thrown pieces and 1 handbuilt piece per person, all of which are included. Additional pieces can be fired and glazed for € 7,50 per item.

    Adult & Child Workshop

    Would you like to enjoy a creative pottery experience together?

    This workshop is designed for one adult and one or two children, or two adults and one child. It's a wonderful way to spend quality time together while learning the basics of wheel throwing.

    This workshop is available for:

    • 1 adult & 1 child
    • 1 adult & 2 children
    • 2 adults and 1 child

    Children should be between 7 and 15 years old.

    I'll teach you the basics of wheel throwing in a relaxed and personal setting. Younger children sometimes find centring the clay a little challeging, but I'll be there to help every step of the way.

    Children's Birthday Parties

    Looking for an unique and creative birthday party?

    Treat your child and their friends to a fun pottery experience they'll remember for a long time! During this birthday workshop, every child creates their own pottery and gets a chance to try the potter's wheel.

    Good to know

    • Participants: Up to 6 children
    • Age: 7 years and up
    • Duration: Approximately 2 hours
    • Experience: No experience required

    Each child will handbuild one pottery piece, such as a fantasy figure, a monster or a small pot. They will also have a turn on the potter's wheel.

    Because I have 3 pottery wheels, the children will take turns. I'll trim and glaze the wheel-thrown pieces in the glaze colour of their choice.

    The children can decorate their handbuilt pieces themselves using colourful underglazes.
